Santa's visit

Santa and I got to the church at the same time today. We both came for the Christmas party at the Walnut church day care. He and I both were surprised that there were no others there at 9:55. It turned out that the first children were not to arrive until 10:20 - longer than Santa wanted to wait in his velour Santa suit. He like to talk (good trait for a Santa), so I learned that he was 70+ years old, had been "Santa-ing" for 35 years, his beard cost $450, and that he was thinking of retiring after this year. He was a good Santa. I liked the way he said "I love you" to the little ones. I believed him.
When I went back to visit Jessica and Kaylee in their class room, I told Jessica "Do you plan to tell Santa what you want for christmas?" She said, "He might not be a real Santa, just a man dressed up like him"! Then Susan said, "She told me she wouldn't tell anyone her christmas list but the real Santa."
I'm not sure what Jessica decided about this Santa, but she was impressed when Santa said "Give this girl a big hand for speaking up loud and clear." Jessica was the first one to answer Santa's question "What do you want for christmas?" She said, "An American Girl Doll."
Kaylee seemed to enjoy Santa too, but when asked about her favorite part of the party, she said "The Rice Krispy Treats!"
Lauren was the least enthused. In fact, she was one of several that seemed more frightened of the big beard than anything else. Here's Susan trying to get lauren closer to Santa, but she has her brakes on!

Jessica was the star of the day. She remained on Santa's lap during all the photo shots. She was beaming.
